Jenny Lind Rare Printed and Hand Painted Pot Lid Attributed to Ridgway

About the Item

An unusual and rare English potlid believed to depict Jenny Lind and attributed to Ridgway and dating from around 1850. The lid is printed with a lady seated in a garden landscape in a rather elegant white ball gown and with a guitar resting on her leg. The scene is set within a raised surround of flowers and stems and is hand painted in colored enamels over a printed ground. We believe the portrayal to be of Jenny Lind a famous Swedish born singer who was born in 1820 and came to England in 1847. In good condition with normal age wear and a couple of chips to the inside rim.
