Majolica Plate Centerpiece Ceramic Wall Dish Hand-Painted Dolphins Deruta Italy

About the Item

Majolica dish hand made and hand-painted in Deruta, Italy, according to the original Renaissance painting technique. The dish is enriched by the presence of four metamorphic dolphin-like figures arranged symmetrically; the dolphin in antiquity symbolically represented "the soul arriving in the harbor of salvation through the sea waters of existence." Our majolica plate is designed to be both an inviting centerpiece and a decorative wall plate. The attention to detail adds an additional element of quality to the piece and is made unique by the presence of hand-painted decorations on the back as well. Dimensions: Diameter: 50 cm (19.6 in.) Colors: black, golden yellow, linen, vanadium, green, orange, cerium oxide (with a grey tonality), yellow. Visit our storefront to discover the whole deBlona collection. The beauty of a deBlona majolica is determined by the ancient process, unchanged over time and handmade, which we observe to the letter in the creation of our artworks: painting ceramics is a very complex, fascinating and insidious art, but it is precisely the human and imperfect sign that makes every piece so characteristic and totally unique. deBlona's essence is represented by the interpretation of the color and by an unrepeatable taste, with which we want to give new chromatic emotions. Majolica accompanies the history of mankind, telling its existence for centuries: here, in our Atelier, we want to keep on narrating our time.
