A pair of early 19th century Spode stone China cabinet plates English circa 1820
About the Item
This truly beautiful pair of exceptional quality early 19th century Spode stone china octagonal shaped cabinet plates are hand painted with Chinese chinoiserie scenes of a highly detailed design in rich bright coloured enamels with fine gilded highlights. The views include multiple people in various scenes. Children with a man who is about to fly a hawk, a building or temple with a lady and child, tree lined rocks with people and a child gathering, a lady viewing the other scenes from a window and at the front hens pecking the ground. This rich central decoration is set within a fabulous floral boarder edged with gilt and black lines. This rare design was most likely a one off private commission as after spending time researching the pattern I could not find another example and the quality is exceptionally good as is the condition with no ware restoration or damage. A superb addition to any collection or home. English circa 1820
