Ceramic pot by Albert Thiry, Thiry workshop - Vallauris, 60's / 70's.
About the Item
Ceramist from Nice, he studied at the School of Decorative Arts. He settled in 1943 in the potters' village of Vallauris. He continued his training as a ceramist in various workshops, including that of Charles Voltz (1923-1997). He set up his own business in 1962.
Together with his wife Pyot Gavaudan, also ceramist, they realized two types of production: one related to the decorative arts and the other only sculptural. They developed a technique of intaglio engraving and decoration in earth chamotte. From 1966 to 1974, Albert Thiry participated in the Biennales de Vallauris and received the diploma of honor in 1971.
