About the Item

Rare sandstone enameled dish by Paul Jacquet with a Decor of Swans, circa 1915, Paul Jacquet (1883-1968). Paul Jacquet was born in Pers on Jussy on 23 June 1883. After a happy childhood, he became a teacher, like his father, while preparing the drawing professorship, at the Beaux-Arts in Geneva, he became passionate about the chiaroscuro of Rembrandt and prints of Hokuzaï. He became an enthusiastic teacher until his retirement. Passionate about ceramics, he became a large-scale trader,he started to create his own workshop, circa 1913. He began making ceramics in the Savoyard traditon by harmonizing the form in his drawings and colors. Becoming a member of the Society of Fine Arts of Savoy and the Société des Artistes Decorators, he will exhibit a lot: He works with Primavera workshops between 1920 and 1925. At the same time, two other '' Paris Decorators '' appeal to him: René Herbst (1891-1982) and Francis Jourdain (1876-1958).
