Created in 2004, this piece captivates with its elegant form and bold material contrast. The minimalist black ceramic bowl, with its refined and perfectly balanced silhouette, is dramatically crowned by a radiating arrangement of vivid red feathers. This unexpected interplay between the solid, permanent ceramic body and the light, organic movement of the feathers creates a powerful visual tension — at once grounded and ethereal. The bowl is monogrammed underneath, confirming its authenticity and Weidner’s personal touch. It has been preserved in excellent condition, making it a particularly desirable collector’s piece. Renate Weidner is a celebrated German ceramic artist whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional vessel forms. She is best known for her distinctive practice of combining ceramics with unconventional materials such as feathers, textiles, and metallic finishes. Weidner’s work explores the dialogue between fragility and strength, tradition and experimentation. Her pieces are held in numerous private collections and have been featured in significant European exhibitions, establishing her as a unique voice in contemporary studio ceramics. This bowl with feathers is a superb example of Weidner’s ability to transform functional forms into sculptural works of art, making it an exceptional addition to any discerning collection. The bowl will be shipped insured overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of transport to the US, Euro 275, is crate included if we handle the transportation which we highly recommend. Importing Art into the US should be free of import duties, but please do check. Colors may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor settings. Wear consistent with age and use.
