About the Item
This is a very decorative, porcelain milk jug or creamer in the early Grecian shape, made by John and William Ridgway, of Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries, England, dating to the Late Georgian Regency period of the early 19th century, circa 1825.
The milk jug is potted in the early style "Grecian" shape with a high rectangular loop handle, a wavy rim and a slightly vertically fluted body with a molded leaf spout. It has been hand painted with the floral gilded pattern Number 2/1005, with much hand gilding.
This piece is marked to the base with the pattern number 2/1005 in red by the inside foot rim.
Similar pieces are illustrated in the Ridgway pattern book by Angel Grant.

This is a good, Mason's ironstone hydra jug with a snake handle in the Cashmire De Thibet pattern dating to the William 1Vth English 19th century period, circa 1832-1836
The jug has an octagonal hydra shape with a snake handle.
This pattern is not often seen. It is called "Cashmire De Thibet" and is illustrated on page 60 of the book; A Guide To Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club.
The jug is unmarked to the base as was sometimes the case, but is definitely by Mason's Ironstone as they were the only manufacturer to produce a jug in this shape with this pattern and dating to the English William 1Vth period circa 1832-1836.
Overall a very nice Masons Hydra Jug or Pitcher in a rare pattern.
