Stunning set of four contemporary Japanese signed hand-glazed porcelain demitasse cups and saucers and four matching dessert plates, in a beautiful shape masterfully hand-glazed in the artist's stunning signature colors like wine-red, green and white, signed pieces by widely respected award-winning master porcelain artist in "Yohen" technique of the Imari-Arita region of Japan handsomely proportioned mug showcasing two of the artist’s signature colors. This demitasse cup and saucer set comes in a mesmerizing rainbow of the artist's signature colors and showcases this master artist's most beloved signature glazing techniques. This stunning set comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: Cup H 2.25 in, D 2.5 in, saucer D 5 in, H 0.75 in, plate D 6 in This artist is a master of the yohen technique, roughly translated as “alchemy of the kiln,” in which minute variations in closely-guarded glaze recipes and kiln temperatures produce a unique palette of hues and patterns manifested in subtle but awe-inspiring gradations of color. The beautiful gradations that the artist creates are the result of layers of glazes that fuse together in the kiln. This artist relies on his experience as well as science to calculate the temperature of the kiln and the combination of metals and minerals in different glazes. The artist combines a number of techniques for applying the glaze, including dipping, painting and spraying. One of the artist’s most notable signature gradation patterns is the Galaxy, which stunningly evokes millions of stars glowing faintly in distant skies.
