Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) is one of the most well-known representatives of the illustrious Swedish ceramic design of the 20th century. He was the artistic leader for the Rorstrand factory in Sweden in the 1940s and 1950s. Nylund is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design. Gunnar Nylund was active for periods at Bing & Grøndahl, for a few years had his own workshop, Saxbo stentøj, and worked at Nymølle ceramic factory in Denmark. For most of his working life he lived in Sweden and was employed at Rörstrandsfabriken 1931-59 where he was also assigned the role of artistic director. He has become known for his many different animal sculptures in stoneware, but also made lots of vases, bowls, lamp bases, etc., as well as crockery and other utensils.
