Two Figurines Wearing Vessels (Expressionism) made by WIENER WERKSTAETTE (= Vienna Workshop). DESIGN: ERNA KOPRIVA (born 1894 in Vienna – died 1984 there). Born in Vienna as daughter of a medical doctor, Erna Kopriva has become pupil of Viennese School of Applied Arts in year 1913: The well-known sculptor Anton Hanak as well as the famous designer and architect Josef Hoffmann were her teachers. - Kopriva completed her studies in year 1919 when she started her works for Wiener Werkstaette: The artist joined in a Viennese Art Exhibition for first time in year 1920. Erna Kopriva left Wiener Werkstaette in year 1928, having become teacher at Josef Hoffmann's Class of Architecture: She held this function until the year 1939 when she was forced to retire. Kopriva re-started her activities after Second World War, having been teacher for textiles and design first as well as having been active as freelancing artist in later period. MADE CIRCA 1927 MATERIAL: red earthenware multicoloured painted ( = mainly blue - green - yellow shaded, combined with rosé colours laid on creamy ground & glazed ) SIGNED: 'WW' (signed by Wiener Werkstaette at reverse side) incised letters: 'MADE IN AUSTRIA' existing, too MODEL NUMBER 113 MEASURES: heigth: 39.5 cm (= 15.55 inches) measures of base: 11.5 x 10.0 cm (= 4.52 x 3.93 inches) MINT CONDITION (there aren't any imperfections existing) _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
