Unique Pink and White Glazed Ceramic Tulipiere or Flower Vase

About the Item

Unique, hand-crafted pastel pink & white glazed ceramic flower vase or tulipiere, entitled "Dead Flower Pot" by Toronto-based artist and designer Kaley Flowers. Also known as tulip bowls, tulipiere vessels are ornate ceramic pieces featuring several different spouts that hold blooms (traditionally tulips) individually, all while each stem rests in the same shared water bowl. This one-of-a-kind, hand-built piece takes on the naturalistic form of a rocky boulder, in an unnatural, but happy and optimistic pink and white glaze, with star-shaped cutouts for placing stems throughout, perfect for arranging fresh buds or dried flowers in a distinctively artful display. Artist Information: Kaley Flowers is an artist who explores the ideas of digital culture, online trends and early-net ephemera through a mythology of characters and “cyber-artifacts”, in the attempt to solidify the fleeting, virtual imagery of our past and present as tangible objects. Flowers is a graduate of OCAD University and works as an artist-in-residence at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. Her work has been shown internationally and across Canada in galleries such as Hashimoto Contemporary,, The Hole and the Dunlop Gallery. In 2018, she exhibited alongside Adrienne Crossman at Toronto’s 8eleven gallery, and was awarded the Kent and Doug Farndale Award of Excellence by Craft Ontario.
