About the Item

Rustic and unique Scandinavian Modern studio bowl, hand built earthenware and decorated with Snakes by the well-known Swedish artist Hertha Hillfon. Signed and dated at the bottom, 1963. The Liljevalchs Museum in Stockholm, honoured Hertha Hillfon (1921-2013) summer 2015 with a museum wide exhibit of her works. Throughout her professional life, Hertha Hillfon has been a frequent exhibitor. Internationally, her work was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary craft in New York, the Smithsonian Institution in Chicago, the World's Fair in New York 1964, Expo 67 in Montreal and Expo 70 in Osaka, and the Triennale in Milan. Hertha Hillfon's last exhibition, took place in 2008 at Prince Eugene Waldemarsudde in Stockholm. Hertha Hillfon was awarded the Lunning Prize in 1962 and the Prince Eugen Medal in 1991.
