Wilhelm Kage, "Farsta" Patterned Vase, the Gustavsberg Manufactory, Sweden, 1953

About the Item

Wilhelm Kage, "Farsta" Yellow Brown mat glazed vase with line and patten design, The Gustavsberg Manufactory, Sweden 1953 Impressed "Farsta" five times to feet,, "Gustavsberg G (hand) Studio" Incised "X", "KÅGE This vase work has a long body with an extended mouth and a tower-like form with five high legs at the bottom by Wilhelm Kåge, a master potter at the Gustavsberg Porcelain manufactory in Sweden. The entire piece is covered with a reddish-brown glaze, over which a yellow glaze is applied. The brown areas are carved with a line pattern, with square lattices randomly drawn vertically and horizontally. The yellow glaze flows like water, and the glaze flow appears over the lattice pattern. The entire piece has a rusted look, giving it the atmosphere of an old tower. This is a rare piece of Kage's work, and we have never seen the same one before. It is in very good condition. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
