The firm originated from the plant founded in 1866 by Jakob Swiss Jr. In 1872, the company modified its name to "Actien Plaqué." Among the principal shareholders was Wilhelm Friedrich Quist (1831-1903), who acquired a stake in the company's capital around 1890.
The firm became F.W. Quist Metallwaarenfabrik, and the Quist family continued to manage the firm until 1951. The factory closed in 1981 due to bankruptcy.
