About the Item

We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Bottle from Bohemia made of hand-cut and ground crystal; it has a classic bulb shape; the stopper was given a shape and cut to refract light optimally. An excellent lead crystal was used in the execution of the bottle, which gives the crystal itself a high refractive index; with hand-crafted manual techniques of cutting, grinding, and polishing, the surface of the bottle creates extraordinary plays of light and reflections; the entire body of the bottle has extremely precise handwork. The bottle was made between 1910 and 1915 in northern Bohemia in the Jablonec nad Nisou area, in one of the many local artisan workshops where the working, blowing, handling, carving, and decorating of glass have had their heyday since ancient times, a place in which even today there are concentrated numerous workshops and stores of artists and designers to whom we owe the perpetuation of delicate and ancient art. The floral decorations' cut and perfectly polished grindings are skillfully contrasted with the matte engravings and classic Bohemian workmanship of the early 1900s. When crystal, which can be obtained by adding sodium and manganese to glass, was discovered in Italy in 1450, Bohemia, an ancient region of Central Europe already renowned for glass production and processing, immediately welcomed the novelty. Still, it was not until the 1600s that the Bohemians discovered all the secrets to bring to life the most beautiful and luminous crystal ever seen: Bohemian crystal was born. Our bottle with its delightful and graceful shape tells us these wonderful stories, it is an object with a unique identity with extraordinary plays of light and reflections, full of elegance and refinement, moreover, its shape allows it to be used both as a container for spirits and as a decanter for fine wines. The bottle is in excellent condition. Measures cm.14 diameter, cm.34 height. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the items.
