About the Item

This is a very large ( 1.5 litre) high quality ship's decanter, having an engraved image of a square rigger ship with a wide base made from heavy lead crystal or cut-glass having a soft light grey color. The decanter sits on a low foot and is made of plain lead glass. The body is well engraved with an old square rigger sailing ship which lifts this decanter in quality, as we have seen very few engraved ship's decanters. The stopper is original to the decanter. This is a very impressive large decanter and is heavy weighing about 1.2kg when empty. The decanter holds over 1.5 litre of liquid making it much larger than the norm and even more useful at the dining table for wine or water. We date this piece to the first half of the 20th century, circa 1930.
