A fine 18th century Dutch Delft pottery tile in manganese.
With a scene depicting the Binding of Isaac - the famous Biblical story from the book of Genesis in which Abraham is called upon by God to sacrifice his only child as a display of piety. Upon witnessing Abraham's pious devotion and willingness to slay his son in the name of God, an angel appears and Abraham is bequeathed a ram to sacrifice in the stead of his son. God then praises Abraham for the depth of his faith and utmost obedience to God.
Simply a wonderful antique Deflt tile tile depicting one of the most famous Biblical scenes!
