A blue and white Dutch Delft mantle jar hand-painted in exquisite deep cobalt blue. We see a peacock in a garden filled with flowers and ferns. The cover is similarly decorated and topped with a traditional round knop covered in blue. Made in the Netherlands circa 1780, jars like this would have been placed on a mantle or a bracket. Dimensions: Height 12.25" x diameter at widest point 5.25" x diameter at base 3.5" Condition: Excellent with small edge chips invisibly restored. The underside is partially glazed, which was the tradition in many 18th century Delft factories. Price: $1,220.
