Dutch Delft Charger with Chinoiserie Decor in Transition Style, 17th Century

About the Item

City: Delft Workshop: Unknown Date: Last quarter of the 17th century A large blue and white Dutch Delft Charger with a decoration in the Chinese Transitional style. On the Decoration is the center we see a Chinese official, in a landscape, bearing a gift. The rim is also decorated with Chinese figures in a landscape with rocks, flowers, trees. These dishes are made to be exact copy of the Chinese porcelain examples. This, because of the high demand of Chinese porcelain in the 17th century in Holland and also to be a somewhat cheaper option. Nowadays, we value them at the same level as the Chinese ones. Unmarked, which is normal for this early period of Delftware.
