Liverpool or Irish Delftware Massive Chinoiserie Blue & White Dish

About the Item

Delftware Blue & White Chinoiserie dish, Irish (Dublin) or Liverpool, 1745-65 The rectangular British Delftware underglaze Blue Dish with canted corners and of large size is painted with a Chinoiserie garden scenes. The central well with a large tree growing in the center with a zig-zag fence in the back and other large well painted plants. Surrounding the central well is a band of diaper interspersed with flower heads. The rim is profusely painted with flowers. Dimensions: 18 3/4 inches wide x 13 3/4 inches high x 2 1/4 inches high; 47.63cm x 34.93cm Reference: See Delftware: The Tin-glazed Earthenwares of the British Isles, Michael Archer, G22 for a dish with identical back and styled design of the reverse called Liverpool or Dublin.
