17th Century Delft Large Underglaze Blue Chinoiserie Dish
About the Item
Dutch Delft large underglaze blue chinoiserie dish,
circa 1660-1680.
The large circular Dutch Delft chinoiserie dish, after the Chinese transition period blue & white, is painted with large Chinese figures in the central well surrounded by a garden scene with rockwork and large plants and trees. The dish has a deep well and a wide rim flange. The dish is after the Chinese transition period blue & white.
The center has three Chinese figures is a garden by a fence, one figure with a closed fan is his left hand reaches out to receive a dish being handing to him by one of the figures as a fourth figure stands watching from the edge of the wide flaring rim. The rest of the rim has rockwork and vegetation.
Dimensions: 15 1/2 inch diameter x 2 1/4 inches high.
