A French Faïence plate showing the men’s fashion in Paris during the early 19th Century, likely made in Nevers, France – circa 1900. The scallop rimmed plate is fashioned in the style of 18th Century faïence, using the molds, glazing, and firing techniques typical of that era. The central image shows a well dressed gentleman wearing the style of dress popular in Paris in 1815, as per the printed title. Brightly colored on a creamy white ground and bordered with a lively, hand painted running pattern. 9.75 inches in Diameter x 1 in. H A faint, short, stable hairline running from the rim. Overall crazing is part of the design and charm. Minor wear to the rim also a part of the design effect.
