Adams & Bromley Majolica oyster plate, England, circa 1870-1879. An unusual shaped earthenware plate with six oyster wells molded as full bodied gray fish with white bellies, whose tails meet to surround a cobalt blue center sauce well. A larger whole fish at the bottom rim serves as a cracker well. A brown textured ground with a yellow ochre rim, a mottled glaze verso. Good, bright coloring on this example. Measures: 9.5 in. W x 10.25 in. L x 1.25 in. H Very good antique condition, a tiny bite to the rim on the verso, unseen on the front.
