Orchies French Faïence Majolica Asparagus Plate, circa 1890

About the Item

A French Faïence majolica glazed asparagus plate from the Orchies Faïencerie in Saint-Armand-Les-Eaux, Northern France, circa 1890-1900. Cream colored asparagus with purple tips lay across a deeper area glazed in yellow ochre. The border shows a turquoise rim of scrolls and shells. A rarer example. Book Reference: pg. 101, “Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine” by Maryse Bottero 9.75 in. Diameter. x 1.0 in. H Mild discoloring, as expected.
