Set of 12 plates "Le Langage des Fleurs" by Choisy le Roi

About the Item

This set of twelve plates are by the French factory Choisy le Roi and are decorated with the finely engraved printed pattern "Le Langage des Fleurs", or the "Language of Flowers". Each plate has a different humorous scene relating to the language of flowers to the centre, and they are numbered 1-12. Around each rim is a deep, very intricate printed border pattern. The diameter is 197 mm (7.75 inches) and they stand 20 mm (.75 of an inch) high. The set is in very good condition overall, but there is some slight discolouration to number 4 and a shallow firing crack to the back of number 6. The set would date from the 1880
