About the Item

A large green Uranium glass citrus reamer or juicer, attributed to Anchor Hocking Glass – circa 1930s. Uranium reamers typically have a greenish hue and glow brightly under ultraviolet light, such as a blacklight. They contain a small amount of uranium oxide, causing the fluorescence. These reamers are designed to extract juice by hand from citrus fruits like lemons and oranges. The fruit is cut in half and twisted on the reamer. The juice and seeds collect in the base. There is a tab handle and pour spout incorporated into the deep base. Ideal for juicing a lemon for a recipe or a cocktail, or for squeezing a small glass of fresh orange juice. Depression-era glass reamers are sought after by collectors due to their unique glow and vintage appeal. They work beautifully and look terrific in the kitchen. 6.25 in. L x 5.75 in. W x 3 in. H The expected light wear from age and use. Good vintage condition.
