Antique Bohemian Biedermeier Overlay Enameled Glass Perfume Bottle, 19th Century

About the Item

An exceptional 3-layer cut overlay uranium green glass perfume bottle from the Biedermeier era. This piece is crafted from clear transparent glass, double overlaid with uranium green opaline and a milky white layer in between. This intricate layering showcases remarkable technique and craftsmanship. The body features multiple side panels, separated by borders of double overlay, and is decorated with exquisite hand-painted gold and colorful enamel, highlighting elegant scrollwork and floral motifs. Standing on a spreading base with further gilded enamel, the underside is cut into a star shape, emphasizing the fine quality of the glasswork. The beautifully cut and gilded rim adds to its overall refinement. This perfume bottle is a stunning example of Bohemian glasswork from the mid-19th century, illustrating the artistry that made Bohemian glass world-famous. Bohemia, circa 1840.
