Antique Enameled Opaline Glass Centerpiece Bowl and Plate, 19th Century

About the Item

This exceptional two-piece serving set, consisting of a tazza bowl and its matching plate or saucer, is crafted from milky white opaline glass and dates to circa 1850. Made by Bohemian glassmakers of the mid-19th century, the set exemplifies the extraordinary craftsmanship and artistic refinement for which Bohemian glass was celebrated. The bowl's circular body stands elegantly on a circular base and is richly hand-painted with intricate gold and enamel designs. A continuous scene of gilded scrollwork is complemented by vibrant, colorful bouquets. The base of the bowl is further adorned with a painted border of green leaves. The matching underplate or saucer mirrors the bowl’s luxurious decoration, featuring similar enamel and gold designs.
