Early Bohemian Enamel Moser large, metal bound box and lid, 1895
About the Item
Fabulous good sized early metal clad box attributed to Moser c 1895 in bright blue coloured glass heavily enamelled with a stylised kite-block pattern in pale greens and orange red and yellow curls -the decoration is on the top of the box and on the shoulders of the base (see pictures). Moser glass boxes like these were very popular in the Victorian era, but larger ones like this one rarely survive -see condition notes the main hinge is still working well but there are signs of the stress caused by the heavy lid. A fabulous survivor -the enamelling the glass have survived well.
Moser is one of the greatest Bohemian glass makers of all time and in 2017 celebrated its 160th anniversary.
