Condition : Excellent, no chips or cracks

Weight: 197 grams
There are a wide number of signs that this is not an originial Jacobite wine glass. There are: no pucella marks in the bowl, no inclusions, the engraving is 'flat' and has V shaped cuts, it does not have the characteristic open and closed buds, the glass is bright etc. etc.
This glass was made as an homage to the great glassmaking tradition in this country and Hill Ouston's range contained a large number of Georgian replicas. We have seen far less faithful "homages" sold as the real deal by less scrupulous dealers than ourselves. Alas.This was purchased by our client at an East Anglian Auction Room for in excess of £700 and eas sold as being Jacobite and c1760.
He was delighted with his purchase until he asked for a second opinion. Unfortunately the auctioneer would not accept a return ( like most) as two weeeks had elapsed since the purchase, this sadly is common practice amongst auctioneers who simply claim that descriptions are "an opinion" and not to be taken as read. Mis-selling does simply notb apply to the self-proclaimed gods of antiquities.
