Loetz Art Nouveau Tango Vase, Execution 157 Sky Blue-Black, Austria-Hungary 1914
About the Item
Body blown in a model, constriction over a flush stand, then widening in the form of a belly and narrowing again to a straight, tubular neck with a straight, rounded mouth rim, vertical, black-colored ribs over the entire vase body, polished pontil on the underside.
The Loetz factory came into contact with the Viennese arts and crafts designer Michael Powolny through his designs for the Cologne Werkbund exhibition. His striped decoration - only shown in Cologne in blue on a white background - became extremely popular in the following eight years and was produced in countless color combinations. Internally this decor was designated 'Ausführung/execution 157' and applied to a large number of internal designs. Whether some of these forms are based on Powolny's designs cannot be clarified on the basis of the archival material that has been preserved.

However, some decoration variants have not yet been studied unequivocally. These variants are called "unidentified decorations".
