Murano Pair of Blown Transparent Glass Vases in Metal Cage

About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Splendid pair of transparent Murano glass vases; they have a solid square base in oxidized iron on which a flared structure in the shape of a cage has been built with a burnished iron rod inside which is the molded glass; for their realization has been performed ancient craftsmanship handed down for centuries by generations of master glassmakers. First of all the craftsman created the cage modeling it and soldering it in a meticulous and artistic way, then, mixing and dosing the breath, he blew by mouth with the cane the incandescent glass sphere, coming out of the furnace, into the metal cage; the glass remains imprisoned by the iron but at the same time it comes out in the measure wanted by the master modeling itself without the help of molds; a delicate and laborious operation, born from the ancient and inimitable knowledge of the Venetian glass masters who, with their absolute skill, have created these objects of incomparable and precious elegance. We bought the pair of vases and other goods in the dusty warehouse of a small artisan furnace on the island of Murano in the area "Fondamenta dei Vetrai" near the Church of San Piero Martire, where the owners, two old brothers, very skilled glassmakers, assured us that the pair was part of a series of vases created between 1970 and 1974. The objects are in excellent condition. Measures diameter cm.19, height cm.43. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
