Robert C. Fritz (1920 in Toledo, Ohio – April 9, 1986, in Los Angeles, California) was an American ceramics and glass artist and professor at San Jose State University in California. As a major player in America’s mid-20th century studio glass movement, Dr. Robert Fritz is remembered for his contributions to the world of art. He was one of the founding fathers of the 1960’s studio art glass movement. In the early 1960s, Fritz studied under Harvey Littleton, who is often referred to as the First father of the 1960’s art glass movement. Dr. Fritz then worked and taught at San Jose State College in California which became the first college in the nation to have a glass program. Glass art students with great promise receive the Dr. Robert Fritz Scholarship.
