About the Item
Elegant set of 12 handmade Murano glass with a matching jug in warm amber fume color.
Each piece is decorated with the refined rigadin ritorto pattern, a classic Murano design that gives movement and light to the glass. The amber tone is beautifully matched with the coral red rim, creating a striking contrast.
The fume effect is a traditional Murano technique. By reducing oxygen in the furnace, master glassmakers create the smoky amber shade. Because the process is complex, every piece shows natural variations, which makes the set even more distinctive.
The glass is very thin and light, almost like eggshell, giving each tumbler and the jug a delicate feel in the hand. The set is both practical to use and special enough to be a unique gift.
The rigadin pattern is raised on the surface. This effect is achieved not by pressing into a mold, but by stretching the glass with a blade mold — a sign of high craftsmanship. The coral red rim is perfectly finished, proof of expert skill, as it does not break the natural wave of the rim.
This design is commonly attribuited to Carlo Scarpa, however after researching on catalogs I found that this glass shape is found first on Venini production under Zecchin supervision. It had an inner pinnacle. Under Carlo Scarpa the pinnacle was reduced. It was sldo made by other makers like Barovier and Salviati.
Unknown maker. I'm attributing to Salviati prodution of the 60s because of the use of rigadin, see reference.

Typical of this workmanship is a slight difference in heights that withness the handmade execution.
