Signed Kosta Cut to Clear Sunflower Bowl by Siguard Persson

About

Using a technique more associated with earlier, Edwardian or Victorian glass, Sigvard Pierson has created a beautiful modern composition with the "cut to clear" method, updated with a bright orange.

The piece is made of two layers of glass. One orange and over a clear layer. The sunflower pattern is revealed as cuts are made through the orange upper layer and into the clear.

Persson came from a family of silversmiths and jewelers, and is well known for his designs in silver. However he also worked in numerous other mediums, and during the 1970s he created designs for Kosta.
