Two Bohemian Persian Style Jeweled and Gilt Blue Glass Jugs

This wonderful lime green glass decanter was crafted in Bohemia, a historic region which now forms part of the Czech Republic, in the late 19th century. The piece was created for the Persian (modern-day Iranian) market. The decanter features an ovoid body with a cylindrical, knopped neck and flared mouth. This is covered by a stopper with a panelled base, a knopped centre and a conical tip. The decanter is crafted from green colored glass and is finely decorated with swirling gilt patterns, jewel-like gilt raised beads, and colorful enameled flowers. A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver mounted, cut glass claret jug, an addition to our wine and drink related collection. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug has a circular rounded, globular form. The cylindrical neck is fitted with a fine and impressive plain sterling silver hallmarked mount with the original hallmarked flat hinged cover. The cover is surmounted with a simplified tri-lobed silver thumb piece. This antique claret jug is fitted with a plain angular rounded handle with scrolling upper terminal and featuring a leaf ornamentation to the lower portion. The glass body of the jug is embellished with a cut glass swirl design to either side, conjoining with undulating bands to the circumference. The body of this impressive claret jug is further ornamented with a star cut base. Condition This antique sterling silver and glass claret jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition. The glass is in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface and part hallmarks to the cover have wear due to their location and in keeping with age; the maker's mark to the cover and the mount are not deeply struck but remain legible.
