The technique used is called "Zanfirico" which involves creating transparent glass canes containing straight or intertwined colored threads. To create zanfirico glassmakers start by gathering and melting different colored glass rods or canes. These canes are carefully heated and stretched to form long, thin threads. The threads are then arranged in a specific pattern, either straight or intertwined, and fused together by reheating the canes. The resulting glass cane contains multiple colors twisted or woven together.
