Vaso a canne, yellow and red, maestro Bruno Fornasier for FRATELLI TOSO MURANO

About the Item

Large colorful vase made of alternating red, yellow and blue glass rods. The upper handles, on both sides, are made of crystal glass, worked and hot-applied to the body of the vase. Made in Murano by master Bruno Fornasier for the Fratelli Toso glassworks according to the most traditional Murano glassmaking techniques, hot-worked without molds and completely freehand. This piece gives special light-shadow effects when illuminated! Perfect for any space and any type of environment. It is a timeless design; in the '80s Murano re-discovered the use of traditional colors and this vase is a beautiful expression of the most traditional glass making technique with bright colors and elegant shape.

  • Vaso Zanfirico con canne retorte, maestro Bruno Fornasier for Fratelli Toso
    By Fratelli Toso
    Located in Venezia, IT
This vessel is a Murano glass masterpiece realized by maestro Bruno Fornasier for Fratelli Toso glass factory. It is realized by using a complicated technique which requires great manufacturer skills. The technique used is called "Zanfirico" which involves creating transparent glass canes containing straight or intertwined colored threads. To create zanfirico glassmakers start by gathering and melting different colored glass rods or canes. These canes are carefully heated and stretched to form long, thin threads. The threads are then arranged in a specific pattern, either straight or intertwined, and fused together by reheating the canes. The resulting glass cane contains multiple colors twisted or woven together. The creation of canne intrecciate requires skill and precision, as the glassmakers need to carefully control the temperature and stretching of the canes to achieve the desired pattern. It is a technique that adds complexity and beauty to Murano glass and is highly valued in the art of glassmaking. This piece is featured also by using canes...
