Very Tall Georgian Flute, c1760 This may be an ale glass, champagne flute or a good case could be made for this to be a ratafia. We are undecided, hence we have used the term 'flute'. Despite the insignificant issue on the foot this is the finest glass of this type that we have offered for sale. Additional information: Period : George II- George III Origin : England Colour : Clear Bowl : Tall funnel Stem : A pair of spiral threads outside a lace corkscrew Foot : Conical Pontil : Snapped Glass Type : Lead Size : H 21.5 cm Diameter bowl : 5.5 cm Diameter foot: 7.5 cm Condition : Very good. There is a 0.5mm x 2.5mm flake chip on the underside the rim of the foot. A small piece of white clinker in the bowl Restoration : None

    This is a very good hand-blown, English, mid-Georgian, Wine drinking glass with a round funnel (RF) engraved bowl on a solid stem, dating to the middle of the 18th century, circa 1760. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour. The RF (round funnel) bowl is well engraved with OXO under rim and a facet cut bowl base, sitting on a a solid stem, over a conical foot with a snapped off pontil below to the underside. The foot has an under rim edge chip but is otherwise very good with on evidence of restoration. (NOTE: We do not normally buy Georgian wine glasses...
