An Exceptionally Rare George II Antique Silver "Acorn" Nutmeg Grater Made in London circa 1750 by Samuel Meriton This very rare example is modelled to simulate an acorn and is decorated with reeded and beaded bands to simulate the shape of an acorn. The cover unscrews to reveal the removable steel grater and this piece is in excellent condition, with a good colour. The cover is very well marked with SM for Samuel Meriton and this is the manner in which acorn nutmeg graters are unusually marked, with the maker's mark only. A rare George III Neo Classical urn Pocket Nutmeg Grater made in Birmingham circa 1795 by Samuel Pemberton. The Nutmeg Grater is realistically modelled as a Neo Classical urn and is decorated with reeded bands and a band of fine beading on the domed, pull-off, cover. Once the cover is removed the silver rimmed steel grater is shown, which is also removable. The Grater is in excellent condition and is marked in the cover with SP for Samuel Pemberton of Birmingham.
