Extremely Rare George III Dish Wedge Made in London in 1792 by Henry Chawner
About the Item
The Wedge is plain in design and triangular in form, with a stepped ridge. Silver Dish Wedges are found from the mid-18th century, however examples are extremely rare. They were designed to tilt the foot of the dish as an aid to gathering liquid, there in contained, to one side. The wedge is very well marked and is engraved with a set of contemporary initials. As we have already intimated this is an extremely rare piece by an silversmith, but certainly by Henry Chawner.
