The Sauceboat stands on a circular cast and applied spreading foot which is decorated with reeding. The elongated main body has a protruding upper section and finely shaped rim. This example has a leaf capped scroll handle and the side of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest, surrounded by a scrollwork cartouche. Each cistern is in the form of a fluted vase on a rectangular pedestal. The lead-lined vases have brass handles, removable lids with pineapple finials and taps. The body of this sterling silver basket is embellished with a band of pierced decorated vertical pales accented with four foliate motifs. The basket is further ornamented with two bands of pierced evolute scrolling decoration with a scallop and circular motif decorated border.
