19th C. Handpainted Majolica Pitcher by Gerbing & Stephan, Bohemia, circa 1880



Remarkable large Majolica Pitcher out of the famous bohemian majolica company of Gerbing & Stephan in Bohemia around 1880. The lovely shaped, bulky body is adorned by an exceptional design showing medieval coats of arms with heraldic animals, all elaboratley painted by hand. This late 19th century piece of bohemian majolica art shows a great coloration in green, brown, blue and creme tones and comes with an artfully made, mounted tin lid. Marked with the famous "G&St" as well as the Mod.No. 1896.
