Antique French Porcelain Pitcher Hand Painted Empire Period, Circa 1815

About the Item

Made in the Napoleonic period, this exquisite French porcelain pitcher was hand-painted in the Empire style. It boasts classical and rococo influences, with a bold purple square outlined in gold and elegant swags of acanthus* leaves, symbolizing immortality, painted in grisaille. The green enamel on the handle adds a touch of refinement. The gilding on the throat of the pitcher is exceptionally breathtaking, depicting a pair of golden hawks amidst vines.
