Antique Tiffany & Co Sterling Ewer, 1895
About the Item
This majestic antique sterling silver Ewer by Tiffany & Co. was designed and made during the Gilded Age in America. The Vanderbilts were constructing mansions in Newport and the Gold Coast mansions on the North Shore of Long Island were in the process of being built as well. Tiffany & Co., along with other prominent manufacturers were purveyors of fine silver to the newly built estates. Complete silver services were manufactured to the scale of the nouveau riche mansions constructed during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. One can only imagine what the room looked like that held this majestic ewer. Today, these unique and magnificent pieces by Tiffany & Co. are collected and prized for their artistic merit.
