A monumental Italian art glass decanter, ewer, cruet, vase or bottle with stopper in a rich ruby red color attributed to Empoli. Hand blown of the finest art glass in a classic mid century modern color. This art glass decanter stands an impressive 21 inches tall with stopper.
Empoli glass is a type of decorative and functional art glass produced in the Empoli region of Tuscany, Italy, known for its distinctive vibrant colors, elegant shapes, and distinctive footed designs, especially popular in the Mid-Century Modern era of the 1950s and 60s.
Glassmaking in the Empoli area dates back to the 1500s, with traditional Empoli Verde glass being a significant regional product used for both functional and decorative items. Production of Empoli glass reached its peak in the post-World War II era, particularly in the 1950s through the 1970s, when decorative glass items were exported to international markets like the United States, the UK, and Australia.
