Lebkuecher for Grogan Sterling Silver Thermal Hot Water Jug/ Carafe from 19th C.

About the Item

Made by Lebkuecher and retailed for Grogan & Company, hot water jug or carafe, with an integrated thermos, from the late 19th or early 20th century, with engraved, stylized floral and geometric motifs. It measures 10'' in height with the lid (8 1/3'' without) by 6 2/3'' in depth. Gross weight is 26.7 troy ounces, Hallmarks and a monogram are shown. Lebkuecher was a Newark-based silversmith, active in the 1890s and early 1900s, who is renowned for his Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau objects. Lebkuecher was mentioned in Architectural Digest, as “a company known for crafting medals for the Rough Riders, including Theodore Roosevelt.” The partners were Arthur Lebkuecher, Francis Lebkuecher and Charles Wientge, former superintendent & designer at the highly respected Howard Sterling Company. Lebkuecher & Co. changed to F.A. Lester and, in 1918, was taken over by the Elder Company. Please feel free to ask us any questions, and please see our other listings.
