About the Item
This is a very decorative, finely hand painted, Jug or Pitcher, decorated in the Double Landscape pattern and made by Mason's Ironstone pottery, circa 1840.
It has a rare shape and pattern.
A jug of the same shape and pattern is illustrated on Page 192, Plate 245 of Godden's guide to Mason's China and the ironstone wares, published by The Antique collectors club.
The jug has a hexagonal form and ovoid shape with a high loop handle, having a thumb spur at the top and terminating in a serpent's head. The jug has been finely hand enameled with typical bold colors over an under-glaze printed outline in the Chinoiserie pattern called " Double Landscape" which shows two overlapping Chinese landscape panels on either side. Outside the landscape panels are further intricate floral decoration with a central border all against a mazarine blue and detailed hand gilded background. The notched serpent handle is hand painted in an ochre yellow color.
This pattern is illustrated on page 85 of the Mason's Collectors Club book entitled " A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone patterns"
The base has a brown printed rectangular shaped crown Mason's mark, which dates the jug to the period circa 1840, at the end of the William 1Vth period transitioning into the very early Queen Victoria period.
This jug is very decorative with bold bright enamels and No Damage.

Masons Ironstone Jug or Pitcher in rare Cashmire Ptn, William 1Vth Ca 1833
By Mason's Ironstone
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a good, Mason's ironstone hydra jug with a snake handle in the Cashmire De Thibet pattern dating to the William 1Vth English 19th century period, circa 1832-1836
The jug has an octagonal hydra shape with a snake handle.
This pattern is not often seen. It is called "Cashmire De Thibet" and is illustrated on page 60 of the book; A Guide To Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club.
The jug is unmarked to the base as was sometimes the case, but is definitely by Mason's Ironstone as they were the only manufacturer to produce a jug in this shape with this pattern and dating to the English William 1Vth period circa 1832-1836.
Overall a very nice Masons Hydra Jug or Pitcher in a rare pattern.
Notes on the pattern.
This unusual name of "Cashmire De Thibet" was a name applied circa 1832-1836, to summer scarves...
