Mid-Century Decorative Ceramic Drink Set by Jacques Pouchain - Atelier Dieulefit
About the Item
Vintage decorative ceramic drink set by Jacques Pouchain / Atelier Dieulefit (circa 1960s). Classic cylindrical vase/pitcher with sensuously curved handle in Pouchain's signature cloudy glaze style with earth tone hues. The cups are beautiful in their simplicity. Pouchain uses a contemporary motif on both the body of the vase - stylised flowers with elongated stems - and cups - with curved lines and geometric shapes. Stylish, elegant and very collectible. In very good overall condition. Maker's mark: 'L'Atelier Dieulefit' appears on the undersides of the pieces. Upon request a video will be provided.
About the Artist: Jacques Pouchain (1925-2015) left Paris and gave up his architectural training in the 1950s for the South of France to devote himself to art and his pottery studio at Dieulefit. He produced highly personal work and more commercial pieces as well both revealing a modern approach to pottery. Pouchain's ceramics have an international following and have been sold at several of the major auction houses.
