About the Item

A delightful and highly collectible piece of Victorian ceramic art, this antique majolica syrup pitcher is brimming with English country charm. The body of the pitcher is masterfully molded with a classic basketweave texture and finished in a lovely, chartreuse-yellow glaze. This cheerful backdrop is adorned with a beautifully detailed, hand-painted ivy leaf in shades of green and brown. The piece is completed with its original, hinged pewter lid, which has developed a handsome, dark patina over time. Perfect for its intended purpose of serving syrup or cream, this pitcher also makes a wonderful decorative object for display in a china cabinet or as part of a kitchen vignette. It measures 5" wide from spout to handle, 3.5" deep, and 5" high. The pitcher is in excellent antique condition, with the beautiful, fine crazing to the glaze that is characteristic of its age and adds to its authentic, storied character. Add this piece of ceramic history to your collection.
